What we do

We Care

At Save Our Strays, we work where it matters most — on the streets, in crisis, and at scale. Since 2003, we have been dedicated to improving lives of street and ownerless cats and dogs across Mumbai, ensuring they don’t just survive, but live healthier, dignified lives.

Our Cat Centre

Born out of compassion, and an ever-growin crisis on our streets, the Save Our Strays (SOS) Cat Centre was inaugurated in December 2024 as our first dedicated space for street and community cats. In a city where countless cats suffer silently, our Centre stands as a promise — that no life is too small to matter.

Where Prevention Begins

Uncontrolled breeding is one of the biggest causes of suffering among street cats, At the SOS Cat Centre, sterilisation is our strongest tool for change. With a neuter ward housing 40 cages, a medical ward with 25 cages, and a fully equipped operation theater, we carry out large-scale sterilisations every month. From routine spays to complex surgeries like amputations and enucleation, every procedure is performed with care, dignity, and the belief that prevention saves lives.

Healing the Invisible

For many cats, help comes in too late — at our Cat Centre, we try to change that narrative. Each month, over 50 injured and ailing cats receive medical treatment, pain relief, and a chance to recover. Wounds are treated, infections managed, and fragile lives stabilised. For these cats, the centre is often the first time they experience kindness instead of neglect.

Impact That Saves Lives

In just six months of operations, the Centre successfully achieved it’s target of 300 sterilisations every month — a powerful step toward reducing suffering on the streets. A daily OPD from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm allows caregivers to bring sick cats for treatment, and vaccination, ensuring early intervention and better health outcomes.
